Pediatric Burns
Pediatric Burns

Regarding Pediatric Burns, it is very critical to consider the growing period and rate.
Young children undergo various unexpected burn accidents at home. Based on the severity, dysfunction or skin damage can occur. If not properly treated, the wounds can remain for life.
Since children’s skin is thinner than adults’, damage can go deeper and a treatment period can be longer accordingly. Even after fully cured, it can require several burn reconstruction surgeries as after-burn effect can cause hypertrophic scars or contractures, which can limit the movement in a joint area.

Types of Pediatric Burns

Hot water burns Vapor burns caused by steam from a cooker Contact burns caused by contacting irons, hair-straighteners, etc. Electric burns by touching outlets

Pediatric Burn Treatments

01. Scar Removal When the wound is not wide, a doctor removes the scar and then sutures it.

02. Gradual Scar Removal When the wound is wide and it is difficult to remove it at once, a doctor removes it gradually over two to three times. This method is available when there is not a contracture.
