Usually, people use an electric mattress from night to morning, which can lead to a risk of getting low temperature burns if one part of body is exposed to heat for a long time. Unlike normal burns, low-temperature burns affect the proteins in the skin to be deformed once a certain skin part is exposed to low heat for a prolonged time. As the damage on the skin can be noticed after the burn has already developed to some extent, the burn can be worse than expected.
So, what are the correct ways to deal with a low-temperature burn? "There are some people who apply soybean paste or toothpaste as a folk remedy," said Dr. Jang-hyu Go, the Director of the Department of Burn Plastic Surgery at Hangangsoo Hospital. He explained that it is required to cool the burn down in cool water for 10 to 30 minutes, wrap it with a wet gauze or a wet towel to prevent blisters from bursting, and visit a burn specialized hospital. A low-temperature burn causes deep wounds on the body with even being unnoticed! Safe use and prevention are important! |
