After injuries or burns, automatically we are concerned about scars, which need to be removed through relevant treatments. Regarding a scar treatment, Dr. Jae-gu Choi, Chief Director of the Department of Burn Plastic Surgery, Hangangsoo Hospital appeared. Scars remain on the skin once the skin undergoes burns, surgeries, or physical accidents.
Though wounds are healed, scars don’t disappear because collagen is excessively produced in the dermal layer and pushes the skin out. Scars should be gradually recovered as normal skin through various laser treatments and surgeries considering the patient's situation. Dr. Jae-gu Choi advised, "Since the scar itself does not change into normal tissue, the surface of the scar should be straightened and refined as much as possible through a surgery so that a patient can obtain the result that the scar can be less noticeable.” When a patient is injured, a surgeon is likely to suture the skin in the emergency room. If suturing is not done properly at the beginning, an unexpected scar may remain on the skin later. Considering the scars after the skin is damaged, it is recommended to have an initial treatment at a hospital, specialized in burn trauma treatment.
